Kyiv entrance destroyed by missile strike during massive attack on June 23

On the night of June 23, Kyiv again suffered another large-scale shelling, during which the enemy used rockets and drones, which caused serious destruction and human losses. The most dramatic moment was the destruction of the entrance of a five-story residential building in the Shevchenkivskyi district, where a direct hit by a missile injured ten people, including a child. The destruction and damage to residential buildings indicate a sense of injustice and the destruction of public peace among Ukrainians. According to Colonel Yuriy Ignat, the head of the communications department of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, June 23 was one of the last large-scale missile attacks by the enemy. On this day, Ukrainian defenders shot down enemy missiles, in particular, both ballistic ("Iskander" M and K) and cruise missiles - which significantly reduced the potential consequences. However, despite the destruction of the missiles while still in the air, the fragments of some of them still hit the target, causing destruction. “If the missile had hit the house directly, the consequences would have been much worse,” Ignat emphasized, adding that the destruction of the missiles does not guarantee complete safety for residents, especially in panel houses that are easily destroyed. He emphasized that the enemy uses various tactics — in particular, combining missile strikes with drones and other high-precision means — in order to complicate the work of air defense systems, including Patriot systems. This is done in order to make the work of Ukrainian anti-aircraft units as difficult as possible and increase the number of damage and casualties. The background to this tragic event was the night of June 23, when another massive missile and drone attack was carried out on the Ukrainian capital. As a result, residential buildings and several infrastructure facilities were damaged — including business centers and metro stations. In particular, in the Shevchenkivskyi district, the entire entrance of a high-rise building was destroyed by the strike, which caused human tragedies. Following these missile attacks, the Ukrainian authorities and the armed forces are once again urging residents to stay in shelters during alarms. This is especially important for panel housing complexes, which are more vulnerable and from which residents rarely have the opportunity to quickly evacuate in the event of a hit. Officers emphasize that any direct hit can turn into a tragedy, and saving the lives of citizens is the main task of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This attack once again testified to the strengthening of the enemy’s tactics and the need for constant readiness of our defense structures. Ukrainians anticipate new challenges and demonstrate resilience in the fight for the country’s security, but the destruction of buildings and human losses remind us that the war is far from over.
