Zelensky and Trump Discuss Front: “Putin Definitely Doesn’t Win”

President Volodymyr Zelensky, during his recent meeting with former US President Donald Trump in The Hague, once again emphasized the firmness of support for the Ukrainian side and confidence in the future victory. According to the head of state, this diplomatic exchange took place in a warm and constructive atmosphere, during which the leaders of world powers discussed topical issues, in particular, the situation on the front, political and military support for Ukraine, as well as important foreign policy issues. Zelensky said that the main topic of the meeting was the issue of protecting Ukrainian citizens - in particular, the purchase of modern air defense systems in the United States, which should strengthen the ability of the Ukrainian army to protect cities, settlements, infrastructure facilities and religious institutions from enemy missiles and drones. The Ukrainian president focused particularly on the latest US actions against Iran, which, in his opinion, have weakened not only the Iranian nuclear program, but also the production of drones, which is an important aspect in opposing the war. Zelensky also noted that an equally important topic was the situation on the battlefield and preparations for peace talks. He reported that technical consultations of the Ukrainian delegation in Istanbul and the exchange of prisoners and dead were taking place - in particular, Russia returned the bodies of its dead to Ukraine, which is an important human and diplomatic signal. Speaking about the domestic situation, the president emphasized: "Putin is definitely not winning." He shared details of the real state of affairs on the front, which he reported to Trump personally, presenting the facts and analysis of the situation on the ground. This position of the Ukrainian authorities emphasizes the hope for a quick victory and the rejection of the prospect of defeat. The meeting between the two leaders lasted approximately 45 minutes and took place within the framework of the NATO summit in The Hague, which brought together high-level representatives of the Alliance member states to discuss further actions and support for Ukraine. According to Trump, the dialogue with Zelensky was useful and fruitful. At the same time, he added that the topic of a ceasefire was not raised during the negotiations - their aspect was focused more on the state of affairs in the conflict and global support for Ukraine. Stressing the importance of active international support, Trump noted that he seeks to help Ukraine in its struggle and is aware of the security and political challenges. At the same time, the statements of the American politician emphasize the possibility of further strengthening cooperation, in particular in the field of armaments and strategic support. We recall that this meeting took place shortly after the main discussions of the NATO leaders and the publication of the final documents of the summit, where the Alliance confirmed its commitments to support Ukraine in the military and humanitarian areas by increasing defense spending. This added optimism to Ukrainian politicians and military in their pursuit of a stable and lasting victory over the Russian aggressor.
