Trump said the meeting with Zelensky went well and was about human relations, not just political issues
US President Donald Trump noted that his brief meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during the NATO summit in The Hague on June 25 was held in a friendly and positive atmosphere. According to Trump, during this conversation he did not discuss specific political or military issues, in particular the ceasefire, but simply wanted to find out how he was doing. "It was actually very pleasant. Although sometimes it was a little difficult with Zelensky ... He was as pleasant as possible," he said at a press conference following the NATO summit. According to Trump, his goal was not so much to discuss serious issues, but simple human communication, which made the meeting special. "I think what I took away from this meeting was as pleasant as possible," he added. The US President stressed that his plans are to start a dialogue with Russian leader Vladimir Putin to see if it is possible to end the war. "I intend to talk to Putin and determine if we can find a common understanding and end this war," Trump said. He emphasized that the meeting with Zelensky was just one of many, as he also had good talks with other world leaders. "I had a good meeting with Zelensky and many useful ones with various heads of state. He is fighting a brave fight, and this process is very difficult," Trump said. Recall that the NATO summit in The Hague brought together leaders of many countries of the world, and meetings between them lasted several dozen minutes. Trump's meeting with Zelensky lasted about 45 minutes and aroused considerable interest in the international community. Zelensky, in turn, characterized this conversation as "meaningful" and emphasized that he discussed with his American colleague all key issues arising in the context of the war and security of Ukraine.
