Russian drones attacked Donetsk region: destruction and death of civilians in Pokrovsk and surrounding settlements

On Wednesday morning, Donetsk region again became the target of drone strikes by Russian occupation forces. According to the Donetsk regional prosecutor's office, as a result of these attacks, civilians were injured, one resident died, and four others were seriously injured. This is not the first case in recent times when the enemy uses drones for targeted strikes on peaceful Ukrainian cities, violating all norms of international humanitarian law. According to official information, at about 6 am on June 25, Russian troops launched an FPV drone in the direction of Pokrovsk. The target of the attack was a civilian car of the VAZ-2101 brand, in the cabin of which there were civilians. Unfortunately, this target could not be avoided: the 69-year-old man died on the spot, and his 67-year-old wife received serious injuries - mine-explosive trauma, skull damage, shrapnel wounds. The circumstances of the tragedy were confirmed by representatives of the prosecutor's office, who promptly responded to the situation. Less than 20 minutes passed before the enemy drones attacked again - this time in Kostyantynivka. There, on one of the streets, a 51-year-old woman was injured, diagnosed with a mine-explosive trauma and a hand wound. This once again confirmed the cynicism and purposefulness of such attacks aimed at the civilian population. It turned out that the enemy did not limit itself to one wave of arrivals: a short time later, Russian troops struck the same city again, where another resident was injured when an FPV drone hit him - a 58-year-old man. The intensification of enemy drone strikes also affected the village of Torske, which is part of the Druzhkivsk territorial community. There, the hit zone of the "Geran-2" — the name of the tactical drone that the Russian occupiers often use to strike Ukrainian infrastructure — fell into the private sector. As a result, a 68-year-old woman was injured, who was diagnosed with shrapnel wounds to the head, chest, forearm and thigh, as well as a concussion. Doctors quickly provided the injured with the necessary qualified assistance. After the investigation, the prosecutor's office confirmed that numerous civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged: private houses, outbuildings, garages, vehicles and other property of residents. The war in the Donetsk region continues, and every day reminds us again of the price of peaceful life that is paid in the region. Settlements that were peaceful and cozy until recently are now becoming the scene of ruthless attacks aimed at destroying civilian infrastructure and intimidating the population. In general, these actions of the Russian occupiers pose a serious threat to the life and health of Ukrainian civilians. The authorities and law enforcement agencies call on residents to be careful and follow safety recommendations during air raids and in case of danger. Ukraine has repeatedly stressed that those who organize and carry out such crimes will be held responsible, and the international community continues to call for increased sanctions and support for Ukraine in the fight against the aggressor. While the war continues, every day reminds us of the need for unity and resistance to preserve peace and the future of our state.
