The member states of the North Atlantic Alliance, including the United States, Hungary and other countries, have made an important decision to assist Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression, making it an integral part of their efforts to ensure Euro-Atlantic security. This was one of the key moments of the NATO summit, the results of which are of great importance for the future foreign policy and defense strategy of the alliance. According to “European Truth”, the adopted declaration focused on a significant increase in the level of defense spending of the allies - up to 5% of GDP. However, the main innovation was that all costs related to supporting Ukraine will be taken into account in the general defense indicators of each state. That is, national expenses for assistance to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, including military supplies, assistance to support the defense industry and other types of financing, are now included in the general defense budget. As reported in the document, the Allies confirmed their unwavering readiness to support Ukraine, since its security is directly linked to the security of the entire Alliance. They emphasized that this support is a sovereign obligation of each country, and it not only helps Ukraine defend itself, but also contributes to strengthening security in general. This may include not only direct military assistance, but also contributions to the defense industry of the partner country. It is worth noting that the decision was made on the basis of consensus, that is, the support of all 30 NATO member states, including the United States and Hungary. This is an important signal of unanimity within the Alliance and evidence that the issues of supporting Ukraine remain a priority for all participants. Before this, the NATO summit recognized Russia as a “long-term threat” to the security of the entire Alliance, emphasizing the need to strengthen defense capabilities and collective readiness to respond to new challenges. The signed document and the decision on financing assistance to Ukraine demonstrate the Alliance's desire to systematize and consolidate this policy in order to guarantee stability and security in the region in the long term. More about the content and significance of the decisions adopted in Brussels can be found in the full text of the declaration published as part of the NATO summit, with detailed explanations of the new rules and financing mechanisms and their impact on the security of partner countries and the entire Alliance.
