Zelenskyy Discusses Production of Drones for Ukraine’s Defense in the UK

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has undertaken an important diplomatic mission to the UK, where he held a large-scale meeting with the heads of the country’s most prominent analytical and research centers. The head of our state discussed strategic issues related to the production of modern unmanned systems, in particular interceptor drones and long-range combat UAVs, which are key elements in the defense and counteroffensive operations of Ukrainian forces. The meeting took place at the famous Royal Institute of International Affairs (Chatham House), which is one of the most influential centers of analytical thought in the world. During this meeting, the Ukrainian president not only raised the issue of direct military confrontation, but also outlined a diplomatic path to achieving a just and sustainable peace, necessary for Ukraine to return to a normal rhythm of life and restore territorial integrity. According to the Office of the President, during the discussions, special attention was paid to the issues of the growth of Ukrainian defense production. In particular, great emphasis was placed on the production of drones capable of intercepting enemy targets, as well as on the creation of long-term strategic unmanned aerial vehicles capable of conducting reconnaissance and striking at long distances. This meets the high standards of modern defense equipment and is based on the desire to strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities through close cooperation with international partners. During the meeting, the task of deepening cooperation between Ukraine and the United Kingdom in the defense sector was also outlined, which includes the exchange of technologies, joint research and production of new models of military equipment. The Ukrainian side emphasizes the need to create high-tech drones that will significantly increase the chances of Ukrainian troops on the battlefield, reducing risks and increasing the effectiveness of operations. It should be noted that this meeting was part of Zelensky’s extensive diplomatic program in the UK, which also includes negotiations on increasing international support, strengthening sanctions against Russia, and forming a stronger international coalition to support Ukrainian sovereignty and integrity. Zelensky previously noted that during his visit to the UK he would outline specific steps to strengthen Ukraine’s defense and pressure on Russia, which should accelerate the end of the war and the restoration of peace on our land. In addition, the president planned to participate in the meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg on June 25, and also plans to participate in the summit of European Union leaders in Brussels. Regarding future diplomatic initiatives, it is not yet known whether Zelensky will be able to join the NATO summit. At the same time, he returned to the London residence of Prime Minister Keir Starmer, where negotiations took place with representatives of the British authorities, focused on the scale of cooperation in protecting the Ukrainian people and finding new ways to implement our state's ambitious defense program in close cooperation with British experts and enterprises.
