Left-wing Congressman Again Attempts to Remove Trump from Office: Another Challenge Over Iran Strikes

Representative of the Democratic Party of the United States, Representative Al Green, who traditionally belongs to the left wing of the political spectrum, is initiating the impeachment process against former President Donald Trump for the third time. This time, the main reason was the recent strikes by American forces on facilities in Iran, which caused heated discussions about the legality and responsibility of the US Supreme Leader in conducting military operations. Green's accusations against Trump were voiced during a speech in Congress, where he sharply stated that the former president ignored the basic principles of the separation of powers and abused his powers. According to the parliamentarian, the Trump administration is turning American democracy into a kind of authoritarian regime, limiting the role of Congress in the process of declaring war and making key decisions in the field of foreign policy. "We live in a time when the US president, abusing his powers, makes decisions about military action without proper consultation with the legislature," Green stressed. "I believe that the president is obliged to obtain the approval of Congress before striking other countries. This is the foundation of democracy, and it cannot be ignored," he added, without specifying which war he was referring to. Last weekend, the Trump administration ordered retaliatory air strikes on three nuclear facilities in Iran. This was Green's fourth attempt to impeach the former president. However, given the preponderance of Republicans in the House of Representatives, it is unlikely that any of these initiatives will have a real chance of success in the legislature. Recall that Donald Trump became the first president in US history to be twice suspected of abuse of power and impeached. However, both times the procedures did not lead to his already difficult removal from office. It is important to note that a promising discussion continues in political circles and among the public about the advisability and legitimacy of such actions, as any intentions to remove Trump from office remain difficult to implement due to political inequality and internal contradictions in the country.
