Former US President and one of the potential participants in future international negotiations Donald Trump announced the possibility of a personal meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during the NATO summit scheduled for The Hague. In comments to reporters on board his airline Air Force One, Trump noted that he does not rule out this possibility and will quite likely meet with the Ukrainian leader on the sidelines of the event. According to the former head of the White House, he learned about the possible meeting with Zelensky and, according to him, it is quite possible: "Yes, I will probably meet with him." In response to the question of what exactly he intends to say to his Ukrainian colleague during this potential meeting, Trump noted: "I will say to him: 'How are you?'". At the same time, he drew attention to the difficult situation in which the President of Ukraine found himself, noting that "he is in a difficult situation, he should not have ended up there". Information about a possible dialogue between the two leaders appeared against the background of active discussions before the NATO summit, which will soon be held in the Netherlands. Although there is currently no official confirmation of the planned meeting, this news has already caused a wide resonance in political circles and the media. Observers note that such contacts can affect the dynamics of international support for Ukraine in its conflict with Russia, as well as strengthen the positions of allies in coordinating support for Kyiv. For their part, representatives of the Ukrainian administration have not yet commented on the possible meeting, leaving the issue open until the final announcement of the summit. However, official Kyiv is closely monitoring all reports of planned diplomatic contacts during the conference in The Hague, since any interaction with the American side is of great importance for further support for Ukraine. It is clear that even an unconfirmed meeting may have symbolic significance, as it demonstrates the desire for diplomatic dialogue and continued communication between Kyiv and Washington on the eve of international decisions crucial for Ukraine's future. Such events further emphasize the importance of the NATO summit as a platform for security discussions and international support for Ukraine's efforts to confront modern challenges.
