Chernyshov may avoid arrest: prosecutors will ask for bail
On June 25, the High Anti-Corruption Court is scheduled to consider the issue of choosing a preventive measure for Oleksiy Chernyshov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Unity of Ukraine. He is suspected of abuse of office and receiving illegal benefits, which has caused a wide resonance in society and political circles. According to information received from Ukrinform, the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP) intends to ask the court to apply bail to the ex-minister, but not to keep him in custody. The event is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on the same day, and will be conducted by investigative judge Vitaliy Kryklyvyi, VAKS press secretary Olesya Chemerys reported in a comment to the agency. She also added that the consideration of the motion for a preventive measure is one of the most important stages in this case, which will take place openly and with the participation of all parties to the process. Recall that the case against Chernyshov has aroused considerable public interest, since he is one of the key figures at a high state level. According to sources close to law enforcement agencies, the investigation insists that the court choose a preventive measure in the form of bail for him, considering this measure sufficient to guarantee his appearance at the investigation and avoid the risks of flight or obstruction of the investigation. Information about the prosecutor's office's intentions confirms the tendency towards a more lenient approach in such cases, taking into account the high status of the suspect. This may mean that the court will consider the possibility of determining a more liberal preventive measure for Chernyshov, which will allow him to maintain his freedom during the investigation and trial. The court's decision on the preventive measure is expected to have important consequences, not only for Chernyshov himself, but also for the political environment that is observing this process. However, new circumstances and developments should determine the further course of the investigation and possible political consequences in the context of the fight against corruption in Ukraine.
