Kallas reported: The European Union has already delivered 80% of the promised 2 million ammunition to Ukraine
In diplomatic circles and on the front, there are new optimistic forecasts for military support for Ukraine from the European Union, not without reason. The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaia Kallas, reported on pragmatic progress in fulfilling the promises regarding the transfer of ammunition. According to her, already in the first quarter of 2025, the EU and its member states have reached a significant stage in fulfilling their intentions to supply the Ukrainian defense capability with 2 million mini-arsenals. According to Kallas, today it is already documented that 80% of these planned ammunition, which were to be delivered to Ukraine in 2025, are obligations that are already being fulfilled or are in the process of being fulfilled. In her speech, the diplomat noted that these are specific agreements, supported by written promises and intergovernmental agreements, which confirm the desire of the European community to remain a reliable and stable partner of Kyiv in its struggle for integrity and independence. “We have already taken a significant step forward,” Kallas emphasized. “The main thing now is to finish the work on the remaining part — another 20% — and then we will have a complete picture of support, supported by real supplies.” She warns that although this percentage has not yet been finally closed, the issue of its rapid resolution is a priority for all participants in the process. Let us recall that this project of support for Ukraine was made public in early 2025. At that time, Kaia Kallas stated that she had already collected a third of the promised 2 million ammunition, which gives reason to hope for the rapid and full fulfillment of the promises in the near future. This was another confirmation that European integration and joint military assistance remain important components of the European Union's foreign policy. Representatives of other European countries, in particular the Czech Republic, were not left out. As part of the so-called "Czech initiative" on international ammunition procurement, Prague has already ensured regular monthly supplies of weapons to the Ukrainian military. According to Czech President Petr Pamel, the country is already preparing new million-dollar deliveries for 2026, seeking to further strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities in its confrontation with Russian aggression. The Czech side reported on the already planned logistical steps and purchases that will allow for further support for Ukraine regardless of external challenges and the global situation. In summary, we can say that work in this direction continues and is going according to plan. The European Union is demonstrating its commitment to delivering on its promises, backing up its words with actions – as evidenced by the progress already made in delivering a huge amount of ammunition to Ukraine. This is an important signal both to Ukrainian society and the military, and to all partner countries supporting European security and stability at this critical time.
