In Kyiv, the alarm sounded again due to a missile threat: the city once more found itself on the brink of danger

Chas Pravdy - 23 June 2025 03:12

On the night of June 23, Ukraine’s capital was once again on high alert following reports of a possible Russian ballistic missile strike. This is the second similar incident within the same night, once again highlighting the growing tension and danger faced by Kyiv residents amid Russian military aggression. According to the Kyiv City Military Administration (KCMA), the situation was critical. Sources report that at 02:28 a.m., an air raid alert was issued due to the threat of a strike by Russia using ballistic missiles. The official information contained a clear warning: “Threat of ballistic weapons deployment!” – this message was announced by the KCMA with decisive words. This alert became a distress signal for residents, who at that moment already felt an atmosphere of tension, as just a few minutes earlier the city had experienced a period of intense combat activity. The background of the event is even more dramatic: at that time, Kyiv was under a large-scale attack by Russian kamikaze drones. At 02:28, city defenses and military services began to respond, as the first signals of alarms sounded. During this period, a series of powerful explosions took place in the sky, indicating increased activity during the attack. Military officials reported that Russian drones conducted another massive assault targeting the city’s energy and infrastructure systems, confirmed by numerous hits and destruction. The threat of a ballistic missile attack, according to representatives of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, remained relevant until nearly 02:40, at which time the situation intensified further. In response to this information, air defense forces activated and initiated evacuation measures. During this period, Kyiv experienced a series of powerful explosions, which were attributed to efforts to eliminate potential ballistic targets that the enemy might have employed. By 02:40, the situation was recorded as more stable: the Ukrainian Air Force reported the cancellation of the missile threat. This means that hostilities remained at the warning stage, and the city is now once again back to normal, although official services continue to monitor the situation closely. Currently, the exact extent of damage and the number of casualties, if any, remain unknown, as well as the potential consequences for Kyiv’s energy and housing infrastructure. However, it is clear that the repeated alarm, especially involving the use or possible use of ballistic missiles, once again demonstrates the high level of threat from Russian forces and their tactics of intimidation aimed at destabilizing the situation in Ukraine. Local authorities and defense structures urge residents not to panic and to follow safety protocols. At the same time, Ukrainian military officials confirmed readiness to repel any possible attacks and to strengthen security measures across the entire city. Overall, the night of June 23 once again underscores the inseparable connection between the security situation and the daily life of the capital, its residents, who are already accustomed to the sounds of alarms and explosions, yet remain steadfast in their faith in victory and the fight for independence.
