A fairly dangerous incident occurred in Kherson, serving as another reminder of the ongoing mine and explosive threat that still exists on Ukrainian territories, especially in frontline regions

According to the Kherson Regional Military Administration, on Tuesday, June 23, a situation happened where a local resident, a 28-year-old man, came across an unknown explosive device, which ultimately detonated right in his hands. Based on information published by the official authorities on their Telegram channel, the incident took place in the morning. The young man, noticing a suspicious object in his yard or near his house, decided to examine it. Instead, the unknown explosive device unexpectedly detonated, causing him serious injuries. Preliminary reports indicate that the man sustained an explosive injury to his upper limbs. The explosion resulted in multiple fractures of his arm bones and other severe bodily injuries. The victim was immediately hospitalized in a medical facility in a state of moderate severity. Experts warn that such incidents are quite possible and not isolated, as a result of hostilities and destruction, many unexploded objects remain in the area, remaining active over time and capable of causing injuries. Regional authorities once again call on residents to exercise extreme caution and not to touch suspicious finds. They emphasize that if any suspicious objects are discovered, one should immediately call emergency services at 101 or 102. Prompt response and responsible actions can help prevent further unforeseen consequences and avoid tragedy. This incident underscores the importance of increasing public awareness regarding safety and proper handling of suspicious items. Unfortunately, even after active combat operations have concluded, the dangerous remnants of war—mortar shells, unknown munitions, or unexploded devices—may continue to pose a threat to people's lives and health for a long time. Authorities urge everyone to stay vigilant, and if you see something suspicious, do not delay calling specialists. Protecting the lives and health of citizens is the highest priority.
