S. Strikes on Iran: Calls for Complete Halt of Iran’s Nuclear Program Threatening Global Security The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine issued an official statement regarding the recent U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear infrastructure sites, emphasizing the importance of a full and uncompromising cessation of Tehran’s nuclear program. In the statement, published on the ministry’s official website, it is stressed that Iran’s nuclear activities must be definitively dismantled without any compromises, as their preservation and potential reactivation threaten peace in the Middle East and worldwide. In a comment provided to "European Pravda," Ukraine’s MFA highlighted that diplomatic efforts to contain Iran’s nuclear program had been ongoing for years. Unfortunately, tangible progress was not achieved, as the Iranian regime continued ignoring international obligations and intensified its destructive policies. Participants and experts involved in international negotiations repeatedly warned Tehran that failure to fulfill treaty conditions and a lack of constructive steps would directly lead to serious regional escalation. According to the official statement, aggressive foreign policy actions by the Iranian authorities—such as attempts to undermine regional stability and the stark hostility towards Israel and neighboring countries—are among the key reasons for the current situation. "The sharply negative stance and confrontational posture adopted by Iranian leaders have contributed to the region becoming extremely tense, and recent events, including U.S. attacks, are a natural consequence of this policy," the Ukrainian foreign ministry emphasizes. Moreover, Ukrainian citizens and the international community remind that Tehran is an accomplice of aggression against Ukraine. Ukrainian officials specifically point out that Iran’s regime has long supplied combat drones and technological equipment to Russia, thereby aiding its military aggression against Ukraine. At the same time, Iranian proxy groups seek to destabilize the Middle East by supporting conflicts and violence in the region, creating additional security threats. The MFA of Ukraine notes that recent American-Israeli operations that destroyed Iranian nuclear sites sent a clear signal to the Iranian regime about the unacceptable nature of its ambitions to expand its nuclear program and pursue regional destabilization. "These actions demonstrate that the international community is insisting on adherence to global standards and not allowing the Iranian authorities to dictate nuclear security policies," the statement reads. Ukraine underscores that it has made a significant contribution to disarmament processes—its participation in the global nuclear disarmament programs is unprecedented in scale and importance. Therefore, Ukrainian officials have the moral right to state that the destruction of Iran’s nuclear program would be a crucial step toward ensuring stability and security in the region, as well as reducing global nuclear risk destabilization. The groundwork for this statement was laid back on the night of June 22, when the U.S., in cooperation with Israeli forces, carried out a large-scale operation codenamed "Midnight Hammer." According to U.S. military sources, more than 125 aircraft took part in this operation, including seven advanced stealth B-2 bombers. U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin proudly announced that this operation destroyed Iran’s nuclear infrastructure and virtually dismantled its ambitions to develop nuclear weapons. Overall, Ukrainian experts and policymakers note that these U.S. actions send an important signal regarding the global willingness to counter the proliferation of nuclear weapons and to protect international security. At the same time, Ukraine affirms its support for international efforts to dismantle Iran’s nuclear program and calls on the global community to take active measures to strengthen worldwide security amid the complex geopolitical tensions of today.
