Official sources from the Press Service of the Ground Forces of Ukraine reported that a new organizational unit— the Unmanned Systems Forces Grouping (USFG)— has been established within the defense sector. Its purpose is to ensure more coordinated and systematic deployment of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in modern warfare. The new unit consolidates all military formations involved in the development, operation, and logistical support of unmanned systems, as well as the Drone Line—a specialized structure responsible for reconnaissance, surveillance, and even strike operations using unmanned technology. The press release emphasizes that the primary goal of creating this grouping was to enhance management efficiency in this field, considering rapid technological developments and the crucial role of UAVs in contemporary combat. According to the press service, the newly formed grouping will operate within a unified command vertical— the first step toward implementing a clear and stable management system that will ensure coordinated actions, rapid information exchange, and direct support for command during mission execution. The structure of this new formation is planned to have clearly defined roles, functional responsibilities, and a solid common tactical plan for the application of reconnaissance-strike drones. This will allow the Ukrainian military to employ unified standards and approaches in military operations, optimizing the use of technical resources and human potential. The command of this new structure has been entrusted to an experienced UAV specialist— Robert “Madiar” Brovdi— who has recently been appointed as the Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces. This decision became one of the key components of the 100-day reform and development program in this area, which is an integral part of a broader plan to enhance the country’s defense capabilities. This step aligns with modern combat requirements, where UAVs are increasingly vital, providing Ukrainian forces with precise intelligence, rapid feedback, and capabilities for target engagement with minimal losses. The unification of all units into a single structure will not only increase combat effectiveness but also promote the development of new tactical approaches, foster a resilient management system, and facilitate the integration of cutting-edge technologies into the country’s overall defense strategy.
