Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has not yet made a final decision regarding his participation in the key Alliance summit scheduled for June 24-25 in The Hague. This was reported by the AFP agency, citing a source in the Ukrainian president’s administration. According to the interlocutor, the decision about the president’s personal attendance will be made closer to the date of the event, approximately on the eve of the summit. At this point, the source notes that it is a critical time for making a decision, and the Ukrainian president intends to pursue personal participation to maximize diplomatic activity. At the same time, it was emphasized that the Hague summit presents a unique opportunity for the Ukrainian leader to maintain and strengthen the support of the international community, as well as to facilitate the search for diplomatic avenues to end the active phase of the war. According to preliminary reports, Zelensky has been invited to an official dinner for NATO leaders, organized by the King of the Netherlands on the first day of the summit—June 24. This event is an important element of diplomatic protocol, providing Alliance members with an informal setting to discuss the most pressing issues. However, there is some skepticism surrounding the possibility of the Ukrainian president’s personal participation, driven by recent trends in international politics. Amid declining interest from the US administration of Donald Trump in resolving the Ukrainian conflict, several Ukrainian officials and analysts express doubts about the advisability of Zelensky’s visit to the NATO summit. In particular, it is reported that Trump left the G7 summit early this week, where a meeting with the Ukrainian leader had been planned, which complicates expectations regarding the outcomes of such high-level meetings. Thus, the question of Zelensky’s participation in the NATO summit remains open. The final decision will likely be made in the coming days before the event, taking into account both internal political factors and the global diplomatic context. At the same time, his presence in The Hague could serve as an important signal to allies and partners that Ukraine remains an active and significant player in European and global politics, as well as a reminder to the international community of the ongoing need for support in the fight against Russian aggression.
