The incident occurred on Wednesday night, around 2 a.m., when the occupiers deliberately opened fire on the residential areas of the city, which is located in Donetsk region. According to reports from the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office, five civilians were injured in the missile attack, including four women and one man aged between 51 and 66 years. They sustained serious bodily injuries, such as mine-explosive trauma, shrapnel wounds, fractures, concussions, traumatic brain injury, and open wounds. The victims were at home when the shelling began; they were promptly hospitalized to receive necessary medical assistance. The shelling also caused damage. Preliminary information indicates that 19 residential buildings of various types—both multi-apartment and private homes—were damaged. In addition, vehicles were critically impacted—nine were taken out of service or damaged—as well as garage facilities and commercial pavilions located in the affected area. The settlement suffered significant material damage, and residents were left homeless or with property damaged. Official reports state that this shelling is part of numerous attacks aimed at demoralizing the local population and destroying infrastructure to weaken resistance. Sviatohirsk has long been subjected to active fighting, and each new missile strike confirms the persistent trend—that the peaceful population is being targeted in this war that Russia is waging against Ukraine. Local authorities and law enforcement are working to establish all the circumstances of the tragedy, while local residents, outraged and frightened, seek support and protection. Meanwhile, Ukrainian military and volunteers continue to strengthen the region’s defenses and provide aid to those affected. As before, the occupiers’ goal remains—to destroy vital infrastructure and create chaos to intensify psychological pressure on civilians. The circumstances leading to this attack are still being clarified, but one thing is clear—the situation remains tense and unstable, and the civilian population continues to face deadly threats every day. Ukraine insists on international assistance to ensure safety and protect citizens from such barbaric attacks, calling on the global community to increase pressure and aid in halting the aggression.
