On Monday, June 18, the Kherson region came under a powerful wave of enemy shelling, the consequences of which were tragic and destructive for the local population and infrastructure. According to official information released by the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office, eight civilians were injured as a result of Russian attacks, including three rescue workers who were performing their duties of rescuing residents and eliminating the aftermath. According to law enforcement reports, the aggressor's actions were highly active throughout the day. Enemy forces used artillery and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to deliberately target civilian objects in the region. The most difficult situation involved shelling of several settlements, including Komyshan, Romashevo, Beryslav, Kherson, Antonivka, and Bilozerka. Prosecutors state that as a result of artillery strikes on Komyshan and Romashevo, two adult men were injured. At the same time, due to strikes involving UAVs in Beryslav, Kherson, Antonivka, and Bilozerka, another six people were wounded. Among them are fire service personnel who risked their lives to extinguish fires and eliminate the effects of the attacks. Three of the injured are firefighters, whose condition is currently under medical supervision. In addition to human casualties, Russian attacks caused destruction of residential buildings and civilian infrastructure. Reports indicate that private and multi-apartment buildings, as well as vital infrastructure facilities such as transportation objects, were damaged. The destruction has also affected other facilities, creating additional difficulties for residents of the region, which has been in a humanitarian crisis due to ongoing military actions for a long time. This daily series of attacks in Kherson once again reminds us of the difficult and tense situation in the region. Local residents, forced to live in constant fear and under the threat of new missile and artillery strikes, are demanding from the international community stricter sanctions against Russia and increased humanitarian aid. Meanwhile, the Ukrainian army continues to hold the defense and strives to mitigate the consequences of Russian aggression, working on restoring destroyed infrastructure and stabilizing the situation in the region. Overall, the situation in Kherson remains very tense. Local authorities call on residents to be cautious and to trust in the intensified efforts of Ukrainian law enforcement and security services, who are doing everything possible daily to protect the lives and property of citizens, despite the relentless strikes of the aggressor.
