In his Facebook post, the politician confirmed that he has submitted a notice of resignation from his parliamentary duties and firmly intends not to participate in future elections or hold any positions in government or local authorities. According to the deputy himself, his decision is motivated by a desire to take a pause in political activity in order to focus on supporting the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as working within social and cultural spheres. "I am leaving politics. I have written a notice to terminate my duties as a Member of Parliament. Two points: first – I do not plan to run again, I do not want to hold positions in government bodies or local self-government. Second – I remain active in public affairs and plan to support the Ukrainian Armed Forces and various social and cultural initiatives," he stated in his direct quote. According to data obtained from the "Elected" project at the end of March 2025, Dmytro Dovgiy was one of the deputies demonstrating significant political passivity. During this period, he missed 71% of voting sessions in the Verkhovna Rada, and in another 8% of cases, he did not participate in votes at all, even failing to press the button during registration. This indicates a low level of activity in parliamentary processes. Oles Dovgiy was elected to the Verkhovna Rada of the IX convocation in 2019 from electoral district No. 102, located in Kirovohrad Oblast. He was an independent candidate, elected without support from any political party, and actively identified as a non-fractional MP. During his time in parliament, he was a member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Health, Medical Assistance, and Medical Insurance. With his decision to end political activity, Oles Dovgiy has become a signal for many political observers and public figures about changes in his personal professional path, as well as a reflection of long-standing disappointment with the current political system or a desire to dedicate himself to other aspects of life. It should be noted that his decision was not unexpected for part of the public, which has long observed a decline in the deputy’s activity in parliament and his passivity in voting. At the same time, for his supporters, this may signal new beginnings or the search for alternative ways to influence society and the state outside of a parliamentary mandate.
