Enemy drones again struck Zaporizhzhia — during the night of June 18, the city’s bridge was targeted in a new attack, causing extensive fires at industrial facilities and warehouses
According to Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, at least nine UAVs entered the city’s airspace the day before. As a result, a large fire broke out at one of the industrial enterprises, and several warehouses and production buildings were destroyed. In his Telegram channel, he noted that this large-scale attack caused significant resonance in the city from the morning, but at that time, no information about casualties had been received. He stated that the situation is under control, with relevant services and fire brigades working to extinguish the aftermath of the strike and to localize the extensive blaze. This is already the fourth massive attack by the occupiers on Zaporizhzhia in the past month. As before, enemy drones are used to strike strategic targets and critical infrastructure in the region, which increasingly resembles a tactical approach by Russian forces: deliberately carried out early in the morning or at night to complicate the quick response of Ukrainian defense forces. Local residents, awakened by explosions and loud fire sounds, report a strong smell of smoke and tense situations near the city’s industrial areas. Remember, Zaporizhzhia has long been in a "risk zone," as occupiers intentionally target the region’s infrastructure in an attempt to weaken defenses and create new difficulties for the Ukrainian military. Military and government officials are once again emphasizing the need to strengthen air defense, as the number of attacks continues to increase. Experts point out that UAVs, especially strike drones, are one of the main tactics used by the enemy to systematically destroy the region’s industrial and logistical potential. Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces continue working on strengthening defensive systems and improving response effectiveness to new challenges. Currently, authorities are urging residents to stay in shelters during air raid alerts and to follow official updates, as the situation remains tense. Zaporizhzhia continues to be one of the key targets of Russian occupation troops in southwestern Ukraine, and each new attack confirms the complexity and importance of an operational and systematic counteraction. Military and rescue services are continuing efforts to address the consequences of the night attack, including extinguishing fires, inspecting all affected sites, and assessing the extent of the destruction. Local authorities promise to restore the damaged industrial zones as quickly as possible and to ensure the safety of residents. However, despite all efforts, Russian occupiers remain relentless and continue their aggressive tactics, casting doubt on any quick end to the war. Overall, the situation in Zaporizhzhia remains tense due to systematic enemy attacks, and the residents of the city and region must remain vigilant and united in confronting external aggression.
