On the night of April 27, Odessa was again struck by a large-scale attack, as a result of which the city ruins remain under rubble to this day
According to representatives of the Odessa Regional Military Administration (OVA), rescue and recovery operations are ongoing, and at present, there may still be two people trapped under the debris whose lives need urgent saving. Rescue services involved in eliminating the aftermath of the night attack are working continuously, focusing their efforts on searching for and saving potential victims. This information was reported by the State Emergency Service (SES) on their Telegram channel, noting that at least 13 residents of the city were affected by the night attack. According to Oleksandr Kharlov, the First Deputy Head of the Odessa OVA, people may still be under the wreckage, so their rescue remains a priority in the clearance work. In his address to journalists, Kharlov provided more details about the situation: "Currently, rescue units are eliminating the consequences of the night missile attack across the entire city. Several residential buildings were damaged, including the building of an inclusive center; several cars were damaged, and fires broke out in various districts of the city. Thirteen people have already been hospitalized or are receiving aid. The most important thing is that there may still be people under the rubble, so the search continues." Special attention is given to two specific cases. Kharlov clarified that rescuers are searching for another woman, approximately 60 years old, who most likely remained inside a residential building located behind the main square. According to the official, she was unable to respond in time to the alarm signal and stayed inside. Contact with her has been lost. The woman’s relatives left the building before the attack began, so her fate remains uncertain. Additionally, one more person remains unidentified; all relevant services are involved in searching for her location, using modern technology and the expertise of professionals. It is worth noting that the situation is tense not only because of the extent of destruction but also due to the complexity of rescue operations. There is widespread information that not all victims could evacuate or are currently safe. The spaces within damaged buildings are becoming increasingly dangerous by the minute due to possible collapses or fires. All rescue services — from the SES to police and emergency medical teams — are working at the scene. Additional resources and equipment are being deployed to accelerate the search and rescue efforts; however, time is critical in saving lives of those who might still be trapped under the debris. The patriotism and resilience of Ukrainians are once again demonstrated in this difficult situation. Local authorities urge residents not to ignore alarm signals and to strictly follow instructions from rescue services. The authorities promise to make every effort to quickly and effectively eliminate the aftermath of the attack and evacuate all potential victims. Overall, the situation remains tense, and every minute directly affects the fates of people still blocked under the rubble. Clearing the ruins and searching for possible victims continues under extremely difficult conditions. Local authorities and rescue teams earnestly hope for a just and swift outcome of this desperate operation, which restores social spirit and trust in the humanitarian response system. In this arduous fight for the lives and safety of those affected, Odessa once again proves its strength and resilience in the face of new challenges.
