According to official reports, the bodies of five people have been recovered from the debris so far, but the final number of victims is still being determined. It is too early to say whether the total number of people killed as a result of this attack has increased; initial reports provided different figures, and the situation remains complex and unpredictable. As reported by Kyiv City Military Administration head Tymur Tkachенко on Telegram, rescuers have already retrieved the bodies of two Kyiv residents from under the ruins. "The search and extraction work is ongoing, and confirmation of whether there are more people under the rubble is still possible, so work continues," he added. According to him, specialists are working at the scene, and each minute could change the picture of the tragedy. Friends and relatives of those who were in the destroyed area are awaiting further news, as even by a twist of fate, people might still be under the debris. It has already been established that, in addition to the two bodies previously discovered, rescuers have additionally recovered three more victims; however, this figure has not been officially confirmed yet. Svitlana Vodologa, spokesperson for the State Emergency Service, clarified to "Ukrainska Pravda" that the final number of casualties is currently uncertain due to difficulties in identifying the bodies: search and identification of fragments, such as hands or other body parts, continue. She emphasized that only after completing the identification process will a definitive conclusion be made, and the exact number of victims announced. Overall, a few days ago, reports indicated 14 victims—13 bodies found and one man who died in the hospital. However, information about the incident remains dynamic. Since people may still be under the rubble, authorities urge residents to exercise caution and follow safety measures. Rescuers are working not only to locate and rescue survivors but also experts are conducting specialized investigations of the ruins to assess the scale of the tragedy and evacuate anyone who survived. News of this tragedy is yet another proof that Russian strikes on the Ukrainian capital cause devastating destruction and loss of life. During the night of June 16-17, Kyiv came under attack: many explosions were heard in the city, buildings were damaged, and entire stairwells destroyed. According to the latest data, there are reports of 14 dead and over a hundred wounded. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine reports that a missile hit a nine-story residential building, destroying an entire entrance. This has resulted in titanic and challenging work for rescuers to evacuate residents and search for missing persons. Kyiv City Military Administration head Tymur Tkachенко reported that there may be between 4 to 14 people still trapped under the debris of the nine-story building in Solomianskyi district, who lived in the building and are currently unaccounted for. Mayor Vitali Klitschko urged all residents of the capital to be extremely cautious, as dangerous fragments are still spreading in the city—particularly small metal balls that were part of Russian missiles and pose a serious threat to life and health. Overall, this tragedy again demonstrates how destructive and ruthless war is for civilians. Ukraine remains under constant threat of new strikes, but each day Ukrainians show resilience and determination to fight for their freedom and security. Search and investigation efforts continue, with authorities and emergency services responding as swiftly and competently as possible to save as many lives as they can and to ensure justice in this difficult and painful fight.
