The international G7 summit, which took place recently in the Canadian city of Kananskis, unexpectedly became the subject of significant attention due to the decision of U.S. President Donald Trump to prematurely end his participation in the forum. According to information released by official White House sources, the U.S. leader decided to leave the event earlier than planned and return to Washington. This decision caused considerable resonance and prompted discussions about its reasons and potential consequences for international diplomacy. A CNN source, citing White House spokeswoman Caroline Levitt, reported that Trump participated in the first part of the summit, signed an important trade agreement with the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Rishi Sunak, and also held meetings and discussions with leaders of other participating countries. According to the press secretary, the president was engaged in significant political and economic issues; however, due to the deteriorating situation in the Middle East, he made the decision to return to the United States ahead of schedule. "President Trump had a great day at the G7 summit and achieved notable results, including signing a key trade agreement with the United Kingdom. However, considering recent events in the Middle East, he applied the principle of swift response and decided to return to the country. This decision was driven by the need to personally participate in addressing crises in the region," Levitt stated in her post on X (formerly Twitter). At the same time, CNN clarifies that, primarily, the president planned to stay in Canada for a few more days to complete official events and conduct scheduled bilateral meetings, including with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. According to preliminary information, Trump was to hold talks with the Ukrainian leader on Tuesday, and he also had a plan for imposing new sanctions against Russia — but due to the escalation of the Iran-Israel conflict in the region, that decision was reconsidered. Amidst his sudden departure from Canada, Trump posted a hysterical message on Truth Social calling for evacuation from Tehran. In his statement, he emphasized: "Everyone must evacuate immediately from Tehran!", indicating an escalation of regional tensions and the potential for conflict escalation. Earlier reports indicated that the U.S. president planned to remain in Canada until the end of the summit and participate in several key meetings and signing ceremonies. However, given the rising tensions in the Middle East and information about possible new military actions, Trump decided to accelerate his return to the U.S., raising questions about his domestic policies and strategic priorities. Of particular importance is the fact that during the summit, the U.S. leader attempted to postpone the introduction of new sanctions against Moscow, citing his intention to negotiate a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Ukraine. According to analysts, this decision once again underscores the complexity of diplomatic balances and internal interests surrounding Trump. Overall, Trump’s departure from the Canadian summit amid global and regional tensions indicates serious discomfort for the administration and presents new challenges in international relations. Official figures and political experts have already begun analyzing the situation, noting that such an unexpected move could influence subsequent diplomatic processes, both through U.S. internal politics and their international reputation.
