On the night of June 17, the Ukrainian capital was shaken again by a large-scale missile attack, which resulted in serious destruction and human casualties. According to preliminary data, Russian forces struck a nine-story residential building in the Solomianka district of Kyiv with a ballistic missile, causing significant damage to one of the entrances. Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko shared this information with journalists at the scene of the tragedy. According to him, the strike was so precise and powerful that it destroyed the entire entrance down to the basement level. “The ballistic missile deliberately hit a nine-story residential building in Kyiv. As a result, one of the entrances was completely destroyed, damaged down to the foundation and basement. It was a direct hit, and the consequences are evident,” Klymenko emphasized. He also added that, according to preliminary data, fragments of the missile caused significant damage and human casualties. Additional information about the situation was provided by Kyiv City Military Administration Head Tymur Tkachенко, who clarified that the attack was carried out specifically in the Solomianka district of the capital. Tkachенко stated that as a result of the attack, there are currently 14 victims and 55 injured in Kyiv. Among those injured are three minors — children. The injured are receiving necessary medical assistance, and rescue services are working on the scene to ensure evacuation and search for potentially still trapped individuals. Recall that the situation unfolded on the night of June 17, when Russian troops attacked Ukraine with a wide range of weapons — drones and cruise missiles. Explosions were heard in many regions of the country, including Kyiv. Initially, at least 40 people were reported injured as a result of the strikes on the capital, but the number of casualties later increased to 14 dead. This once again confirms the severity and scale of the aggression Russia continues to carry out against the Ukrainian city. The situation remains tense. Authorities urge residents to be cautious and follow safety protocols, as the enemies do not cease shelling and so-called “hits” on civilian infrastructure. Experts have identified the site of the strike — the Solomianka district of Kyiv, where at least one entrance of a residential high-rise has been destroyed, highlighting the cynicism and deliberate nature of the attacks. Rescue workers and law enforcement officials are still working to assess the extent of the damage and find possible survivors. Local authorities promise to make maximum efforts to restore the damaged facilities and ensure the safety of residents. The main priority now is to unite efforts to face these challenges and prevent further tragedies, as each new strike reminds us of the cost of war and the importance of maintaining peace in Ukraine.
