On June 17, the local region’s capital became the scene of a horrific shooting that claimed at least two lives and left a trail of sorrow and unrest among residents. According to journalists from the portal "Zhytomyr.info" and the local broadcaster "Suspilne.Zhytomyr," the incident took place around 4:00 PM on Svyatoslav Rikhter Street, in the area of one of the popular local coffee shops. Residents reported that the shooting was initiated by unknown individuals, and law enforcement officers immediately arrived at the scene. Among the first testimonies are photos showing a man lying in a pool of blood, as well as reports that a firearm was suddenly used during the conflict. Witnesses stated, “Just now, a man on Rikhter shot his wife, and then he took his own life,” based on their observations of the event. By 4:30 PM, a police team was working at the scene, cordoning off the area to ensure order and conducting an inspection of the site. The entire street was temporarily closed to traffic while investigators examined the scene. Witnesses describe that the tragedy unfolded in front of a crowd of passersby and nearby a popular coffee establishment. According to information received by "Suspilne," it is claimed that the two deceased are a woman who was inside a car, and a man who was near her on the street. Preliminary data suggest that the woman, found in the vehicle, died from a gunshot wound, and the man was shot dead right on the sidewalk, as confirmed by witnesses’ accounts and photos from the scene. The motives behind the crime are currently unknown; law enforcement is conducting an investigation to establish all circumstances of the incident. Another point of particular interest is that, according to unofficial information, among the fatalities is Oleksandr Fedosюк, a former "Aidar" battalion fighter and a lawyer by profession, known locally by the call sign "Bek." His identity has added tension within the community, as his past and potential motives for the conflict remain the subjects of speculation. Currently, authorities are working to reconstruct the events, determine motives, and identify persons involved in the tragedy.
