Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has officially submitted the candidacy of Ruslan Kravchenko for the position of General Prosecutor to the Verkhovna Rada
This news was announced by the speaker of the parliament, Ruslan Stefanchuk, on his official Facebook page, where he noted that the corresponding submission has already been received by the parliamentary walls in accordance with the current Constitution and legislation. According to Stefanchuk, in accordance with paragraph 11 of part one of Article 106 and part three of Article 131-1 of the Constitution of Ukraine, the head of state has submitted documents for the appointment of the country’s chief prosecutor. This means that the Verkhovna Rada will now have the obligation to consider this candidacy and determine its further fate in the near future. The constitutional norm stipulates that support from the parliament is necessary for the appointment of the General Prosecutor. Therefore, it is expected that deputies will soon gather for one of the regular plenary sessions to review this important issue. Although the exact date has not yet been set, sources within parliamentary circles report that a vote may take place in the coming weeks. This appointment is of great importance for the further development of anti-corruption efforts in Ukraine and the justice system. Ruslan Kravchenko, as a candidate for the position of the chief prosecutor, is known as an experienced lawyer with a certain background in management and legal knowledge.
