Russian drones repeatedly attacked Ukraine, conducting a large-scale ground and air operation that became one of the largest in recent months in terms of the number of drones used

According to official sources in the Air Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, from the evening of June 15 until the early morning of the following day, Russia intensified its drone attacks, launching a total of 138 kamikaze drones of various types and series over Ukrainian territory. Ukrainian military personnel managed to disable 125 of these drones; however, 10 of them reached their targets and caused hits in different regions of the country. This attack was one of the most extensive in terms of the number of drones used in modern warfare. According to representatives of the Ukrainian command, the main targets of the enemy were facilities in the north, east, south, and center of Ukraine. The enemy employed a steady arsenal — Shahed kamikaze drones and decoys of various types, indicating Russia’s efforts to complicate Ukraine’s defenses to the maximum. According to official information, 125 enemy drones were neutralized. In most cases, Ukrainian air defense systems successfully thwarted the attacks: 84 drones were shot down in the air with fire weapons, and another 41 devices were suppressed or lost as a result of radio-electronic warfare systems and jamming systems. At the same time, statistics report 10 pinpoint strikes that caused destruction at objects in various regions of the country, and debris from downed drones was recorded in 8 Ukrainian settlements. Where did the targets and kamikaze drones come from? The enemy aviation increased its efforts from the directions of Russian cities Bryansk, Kursk, Orel, and Shatalovo, indicating a systematic campaign of attacks from Russian territory on Ukrainian infrastructure and military positions. At the same time, the main direction of the strike was aimed specifically at Donetsk, confirming the targeted nature of Russia’s tactics. Ukrainian defenders repelled these attacks using a comprehensive air defense system — involving aviation units, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, and drone systems. Mobile fire groups of the defense forces also operated, responding quickly to any spread of drone attacks. According to representatives of the Air Forces, the situation remained tense; however, the Ukrainian military portal demonstrates daily its ability to repel enemy aggression and reduce its capabilities on the battlefield. At the same time, this series of attacks indicates Russia’s ongoing progress in drone deployment, which is a significant aspect of modern military strategy and currently remains one of the main threats to Ukrainian security and civilians.
