The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced the completion of a series of large-scale aerial operations as part of their efforts against the Iranian nuclear program
The Israeli Defense Forces reported the successful conclusion of extensive strikes on targets directly related to Iran’s nuclear project. According to IDF officials, the strikes were carried out based on intelligence received and targeted several key sites in Iran’s capital, Tehran. The official statement notes that the operations included the headquarters of Iran’s Ministry of Defense, as well as facilities involved in the development and production of nuclear weapons, notably the SPND (Nuclear and Radiation Protection Agency) center, and other strategically important links within Iran’s nuclear infrastructure. Additionally, targets believed by intelligence to be hiding and storing nuclear archives—documentary and material assets that could significantly accelerate or even fast-track Iran’s nuclear efforts—were also struck. The events trace back to the night of June 13, when Israeli Air Force aircraft launched a series of strikes in response to eastern and western targets in Iran associated with the nuclear program. Later, military officials explained that the operation lasted over 40 hours and was the largest since the start of this special operation. Brigadier General Effi Defrin stated that more than 150 objects controlled by Iranian forces were hit during the targeted attacks. This attack represents another escalation in the tense relations between Israel and Iran and signals that the only way to deter Iran’s nuclear threat remains decisive and swift military action. Meanwhile, in Washington, concerns were expressed over the Israeli strikes’ completion, and calls were made for both the country and the international community to take active measures to prevent a nuclear arms race. However, the reaction from Tehran was unequivocal: Iranian officials declared that further negotiations with the US regarding the nuclear deal are now pointless and hopeless following the recent strikes. At the same time, Washington emphasized that any efforts to change the situation diplomatically remain relevant, as regional security and stability depend on containing Iran’s nuclear program. As we observe, the regional situation has significantly escalated, and the key question remains how further actions will impact the prospects for nuclear proliferation, diplomacy, and security in the Middle East. The urgent need for alternative approaches and the involvement of the international community in seeking ways to prevent escalation remains on the agenda.
