In Khmelnytskyi region, an FSB agent has been uncovered, who was acting in favor of Russian special services and was involved in adjusting Russian aviation strikes on key regional targets, as well as preparing explosive devices for terrorist attacks
This information was confirmed by the press service of the Office of the Prosecutor General and the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), which conducted extensive investigative measures and operational-search activities, leading to the detention of the suspect. According to the investigation, a 59-year-old resident of Khmelnytskyi region, who was previously unemployed, was recruited through the Telegram messaging app by Russian special services earlier this year. In April 2025, she received instructions and began collecting information about military facilities located in the city. She carried out her activities under the guise of normal city navigation, concealing her true intentions by pretending to have phone conversations. Her main task was to photograph strategically important points — backup command posts, administrative buildings, and military warehouses. These materials were used to coordinate enemy aviation strikes on the region. Simultaneously, SBU specialists discovered that the woman received instructions from her curator at a Russian center to manufacture homemade explosive devices. Following the instructions of the Russian agent, she purchased the necessary components for making explosives, but unfortunately, she did not have time to complete the assembly process. This happened during her detention near a military unit, when the agent was already attempting to carry out espionage activities. The location of her arrest and the seized evidence became crucial proof in this case. During searches at her residence, law enforcement officers found components for making an explosive device and a mobile phone used for contact with Russian intelligence services. The phone contained evidence of cooperation with the FSB, and additional ingredients for manufacturing explosives were discovered in her apartment. Following this, SBU investigators notified the detained woman of suspicion under Article 111, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — treason committed during martial law. At the time of the investigative actions, she was in custody, and bail was denied. According to the relevant article, she faces a life sentence with confiscation of property. Overall, the operation to expose and apprehend the agent represents an important episode in the system of measures aimed at neutralizing intelligence activities and preventing acts of terrorism. According to the decision of the investigation, all organizational, technical, and operational activities were conducted by employees of the Security Service of Ukraine with the assistance of the Khmelnytskyi Regional Prosecutor’s Office, working in close cooperation to protect the region and the state during this difficult period.
