Donald Trump is open to Russia’s participation in the peacekeeping process between Israel and Iran, which could unexpectedly change the rules of the game in the Middle East region

In his interview with ABC News, the former U.S. president hinted at the possible role of Vladimir Putin as a mediator in one of the most intense and complex conflicts of modernity. According to Trump, he does not deny that the Russian leader could serve as a neutral mediator between the two players — Israel and Iran. Although this is a quite unexpected step — considering the traditional tension between the U.S. and Russia — experts note that for Donald Trump, it was important to remain open to any possible options for resolving the conflict, including those involving active Moscow involvement. "He called me about this issue," Trump stated. "We talked for a long time, discussed, and during all that time, we spoke a lot specifically about this topic," he added. "I am convinced that this issue will be resolved, and I believe that Putin's efforts have the potential to influence the situation." At the same time, he emphasized that the Russian president is supposedly "ready" for such mediation, which further fuels speculation about potential new diplomatic avenues in the region. Another important aspect of this statement is the possible involvement of the United States in the conflict between Israel and Iran. However, Trump left open questions: under what conditions and in what format such participation could take place, he did not specify directly. This raises even more intrigue regarding possible scenarios for the development of the situation, especially amid current tensions, as the risk of U.S. involvement in regional conflicts continues to grow. Interestingly, on June 14, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump already had a phone conversation, the main topic of which was the escalation of tensions between Iran and Israel. Additionally, the participants in the talks also focused on the situation around Ukraine — despite the fact that this issue primarily concerns the world, they did not forget about the Middle Eastern conflict during the discussion. Earlier, Trump did not hide his intentions to do everything possible to promote peace between Iran and Israel. Specifically, he mentioned that he is actively working on the conclusion of treaties and agreements aimed at stabilizing the situation in the region. Meanwhile, the Iranian government stated that it refuses any new negotiations with the U.S. regarding its nuclear program, citing support for Israel by American partners as the reason. Thus, the situation surrounding potential mediation by Putin and possible U.S. interventions leaves many uncertainties. Populations and analysts are closely monitoring this development, as any diplomatic steps could drastically change the balance of power in the most vulnerable and complex region of the world.
