Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced a significant breakthrough in liberating Sumy Region from Russian occupiers, specifically mentioning the return of the strategically important community of Andriivka under Ukrainian control

In his evening address, the head of state emphasized that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are demonstrating a high level of operational readiness and coordinated effort, despite the difficult frontline situation, and have already achieved important results in resisting the aggressor. Zelensky provided details that the current state of the front requires special attention and vigorous actions especially in border areas, including Sumy Oblast. According to him, Ukrainian military personnel are advancing with great effort, liberating previously occupied positions and eliminating the enemy along the border. Moreover, he expressed particular gratitude to units of the 225th Separate Assault Regiment, which showed bravery in offensive operations on the border territories. Thanks to their efforts, Andriivka was reclaimed, marking an important strategic and symbolic victory in the fight for sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country. Talking about this victory, Zelensky stressed that the efforts of the Ukrainian troops continue, and operations are also intensifying in other directions, including Kursk, to strike at enemy positions. This follows data from the analytical project DeepState, which reported even earlier that Russian forces occupied several strategic points in Sumy Region, including Andriivka and Vodolaha. However, on June 14, Zelensky assured Ukrainians that the situation in Sumy is under control, active combat operations are underway along the borders, and the enemy has been halted. Overall, the situation in the northeast of the country remains tense, but the Ukrainian command demonstrates determination and the ability to regain temporarily occupied territories, confirming that the fight for sovereignty and territorial integrity continues. Official statements and concrete breakthroughs at the front inspire optimism and morale in Ukrainian society, which now more than ever needs every victory to bring closer the time of complete victory over the aggressor.
