According to Oleksander Prokudin, the head of the Kherson regional military administration, on June 12, Russian forces shelled over thirty settlements in the region, causing significant damage to infrastructure and endangering the lives of peaceful residents. Unfortunately, as a result of the deliberate aggressive actions of the enemy, one person was killed, and seven others were injured of varying severity. This once again attests to the brutality of Russian terror in southern Ukraine, where civilian populations face constant threats from the occupiers. The shelling involved various types of munitions and weaponry, including artillery, unmanned aerial vehicles (drones), and aviation. According to Prokudin, at least 35 settlements were under fire, with the largest casualties in cities and towns such as Kherson— the administrative center of the region— as well as Antonivka, Dudchany, Bilozerka, Beryslav, Shiroka Balka, Stanislav, Novooleksandrivka, Tiahynka, Osokorivka, Sofiivka, Naddniprianske, Komyshany, and Kozatske. These settlements have been subjected to systematic shelling, resulting in numerous destructions. The main direction of Russian attack was targeted at residential neighborhoods and vital infrastructure. According to official information, four multi-story buildings and thirteen private residences were damaged due to the shelling. Additionally, a gas station, utility structures, and some civilian vehicles were destroyed, complicating the lives of locals and threatening a further humanitarian crisis. Local authorities emphasize that the Russian shelling was deliberate and aimed at creating panic among the population and destroying key infrastructure necessary for the region’s stable functioning. This is yet another proof that the occupiers seek to sow chaos and disorder in nearby villages and cities, using heavy artillery and aviation despite international condemnations and calls to cease fire. Overall, the situation in Kherson remains tense, with residents constantly in danger due to targeted military actions by Russia. Local authorities are calling on the international community to intensify assistance and support in protecting civilians, as well as to push for an end to the aggression and the return to peaceful negotiations.
