The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine expresses deep concern regarding the increasing frequency and complexity of events in the Middle East, especially in light of recent Israeli missile strikes on targets in Iran, as well as the growing geopolitical tension in the region
The Ukrainian foreign office emphasizes that Iran’s role as a source of problems and destabilizing factors extends beyond the Middle East region itself, significantly impacting global security. In a media statement, Ukraine’s official spokesperson declared: “Our country is closely monitoring the development of the situation in the Middle East with concern, particularly concerning the strikes carried out by Israeli aircraft on targets in Iran overnight. Recognizing the potential risks of further destabilization of the region, we call on all parties to avoid escalation of the conflict, as it could have catastrophic consequences for international security, global financial markets, and the energy sector, including world oil prices. It is vital to prevent further deterioration of the situation and to protect civilians from the casualties of war.” According to Ukrainian diplomats, continued fighting in the region will lead to greater destabilization, negatively affecting not only Middle Eastern countries but also the global community as a whole. Kyiv emphasizes that Iran continues to support Russia’s aggression against Ukraine by supplying weapons and military equipment used in attacks against Ukrainian civilians and infrastructure. This raises serious concerns about hidden agendas and potential alliances between aggressor states seeking to undermine stability in various regions worldwide. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry underscores that Iran’s role in current geopolitical developments has garnered attention not only because of its active military and diplomatic activities in the Middle East but also due to its involvement in global security issues. “We believe that returning to peace and stability in the region will not only serve the interests of its populations but also align with the interests of all countries worldwide. Security in Europe and the Middle East is so intricately connected that one cannot exist without the other,” the statement reads. The MFA calls on all states and the international community to take proactive, coordinated actions aimed at restraining destructive forces, in particular regimes like Russia, Iran, and North Korea, which demonstrate aggressive policies and seek to increase their influence through military and information operations. Amid rising tensions and escalating military actions, Ukrainian diplomats strongly advise Ukrainian citizens to refrain from traveling to regional countries, including Israel, Iran, Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, and Syria, until situations stabilize and pose no foreseeable danger. They also stress the importance of adhering to safety measures for those already in these countries, such as monitoring official updates and always carrying identification documents. The recent Israeli strikes on targets in Iran in the night of June 12-13 have once again brought the Middle East conflict into focus. According to Israeli military sources, the attacks were preemptive, aimed at destroying nuclear facilities and military targets to prevent a potential nuclear threat from Iran. However, Tehran responded with vows to “respond harshly,” warning that the United States will pay a high price for its involvement. Additionally, Iran’s Ministry of Defense reported airstrikes over military sites within the country and the loss of senior officials, including the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, General Mohammad Bagheri, as well as several scientists involved in Iran’s nuclear program. This underscores the scale and intensity of the Israel-Iran confrontation, which continues to pose a threat to regional and global stability. U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed that he was secretly informed about the plans for Israeli strikes and expressed support for their execution to protect regional interests and security. In his statements, he emphasized that America is prepared to support Israel in response to any aggressive actions, while also showing readiness to take active defensive measures if necessary. Overall, the situation in the Middle East remains tense, with prospects for regional stability depending not only on internal decisions of the countries involved but also on the international community’s ability to act collectively and decisively. Ukraine, for its part, urges caution and responsibility, emphasizing the importance of stability for global security and world order.
