At the Museum of the History of Ukraine, during the Second World War exposition, one of the most famous maritime unmanned vehicles—the legendary drone Sea Baby—is being displayed for the first time
This unique exhibit was donated to the museum's collection by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), which announced this through its official social media pages. Extracted from combat missions, this drone has become a symbol of Ukraine’s modern achievements in defense technology and military intelligence. According to SBU representatives, Sea Baby is a reusable unmanned aerial vehicle capable not only of performing complex missions in open sea but also of returning safely to its base after completing its tasks. This important feature significantly enhances its combat value in modern naval operations, particularly in countering adversaries. More details about this drone are provided in the report: during its active deployment, it traveled over 4,000 kilometers across the Black Sea, carrying out critical military operations. Notably, in December 2024, Sea Baby was involved in a naval engagement where it clashed with Russian aircraft. Despite sustaining significant damage, the drone managed to complete its assigned combat missions and safely return to base. Currently, the damage prevents its use in combat, and it has been decommissioned for preservation and transferred to the museum to keep the historical memory alive. Photographs of the exhibit, posted on social media, confirm its real existence and combat history. The first deputy director of the museum, Yuriy Savchuk, expressed confidence that this unique example of modern military technology will attract great interest among visitors. He emphasized that everyone will have the opportunity to touch the moments that shape the heroic saga of the Ukrainian people today, as this drone is a true witness to recent victories and heroic acts by our military. It is also worth noting that Sea Baby has already established itself as one of the key components of Ukraine’s new-generation defense system. With its help, Ukrainian special services have carried out a series of important operations, including the sabotage of the Crimean Bridge and damaging enemy vessels. The drone is armed with automatic machine guns equipped with high-precision targeting systems capable of engaging enemy aircraft and launching ballistic self-defense programs for more effective combat. Thus, the transfer of Sea Baby to the Museum of the History of Ukraine is not only a significant act of preserving military history but also a symbol of Ukraine’s anticipated victory in contemporary warfare. It demonstrates the high level of technological and combat training of Ukrainian forces, their pursuit of modern combat tools, and their capacity to defend their country using cutting-edge developments in advanced defense science.
