Russian forces have intensified their offensive actions in northeastern Sumy region, aiming to take control of the strategically important border villages of Yunakovka and Pisarivka

This indicates an escalation of the situation along this section of the front line and presents additional challenges for Ukrainian defenders, who are already under significant pressure. According to data published in materials by Ukrainian journalists, including «Ukrainska Pravda», the enemy systematically stretches its positions in this region to maximize the deployment of additional reserves of their forces. This suggests the Russians’ intent to solidify their presence in this territory and to increase pressure in key directions. Currently, the main strikes are directed at two villages — Pisarivka and Yunakovka. Capturing Pisarivka would have strategic importance, as it would allow breaking through the Ukrainian front and cutting off the main transportation artery leading from Sumy to border regions. If they succeed in taking Yunakovka, which is located nearby, Russian troops will gain control over one of the key border villages in this region. According to border guards, on June 7-8, Russian occupiers entered the center of Yunakovka by motorcycle. This indicates active efforts by Russian sabotage groups to establish a foothold in this settlement. Experts from the analytical resource DeepState reported on June 10 that, despite delays in updating the situation map, approximately one-third of Yunakovka is already marked as a «gray zone» — territory under partial control or not yet fully captured. Regarding Pisarivka, about 5 kilometers remain to be taken. «Ukrainska Pravda» notes that in the already occupied part of Sumy region, Russian forces are employing tactics of small assault groups without heavy equipment. The most they have been able to document is the use of mortars. A key feature of their presence is that most of the time they operate from civilian homes of local residents, turning them into shelters, which creates an additional dangerous factor for the civilian population. Sources within Ukrainian armed structures reveal that on this section of the front, Russians do not currently use drone launch points; their influence in this zone remains minimal. At the same time, Russian military have begun deploying heavy night bombers for airstrikes and are using robotic ground complexes that supply ammunition, food, and facilitate transportation of mortars. This indicates an evolution in Russian tactics in this region aimed at complicating conditions for Ukrainian defenders and disrupting their logistical chains. Overall, the situation in northeastern Sumy remains tense. Ukrainian defenders are exerting maximum effort to prevent enemy advances and ensure stability in the region. However, Russian activity, tactical innovations, and attempts to encircle and capture key settlements pose a serious challenge to the Ukrainian Army and the civilian population, which remains under threat. Ukrainian security and military officials urge citizens to stay vigilant, closely monitor official information, and take safety measures in response to potential provocations and large-scale combat activities in this part of the country.
