The incident occurred on Wednesday at the popular Uzunçun Beach in the Şile district, in the southwestern part of the country. According to reports from local media and news agencies, this drone resembled a Ukrainian kamikaze drone in appearance, and its external look and design aroused suspicion among experts and tourists nearby. As reported by "European Truth" citing the Turkish publication Yeni Şafak, the incident took place around 12:30 PM. Witnesses at the beach noticed an unusual object near the shoreline, resembling a small drone with signs of military imitation. According to reports, this object looked similar to a Ukrainian loitering drone of the "kamikaze" type, which Ukraine actively uses in modern combat operations. Due to this, public concern quickly grew over a possible military component or preparation for potential provocations. Eyewitnesses describe the object as being a few tens of centimeters long and externally resembling a combat mini-robot equipped with an explosive device. Official sources reported that bomb disposal experts and security services immediately arrived at the scene and began an assessment of the situation. Military specialists, including representatives of Turkish security forces and the coast guard, conducted preliminary examinations of the found object and concluded that it is likely a Ukrainian-made drone, similar in design to kamikaze drones extensively used by Ukraine in the ongoing war against Russian invaders. Experts noted that the mechanism located underneath the object still looks like a potential explosive device, reinforcing the version that it was either a combat tool or a demonstration model. Turkey’s naval forces have already seized the find for detailed analysis and examination. Preliminary conclusions from experts suggest that the item was likely a remnant from a conflict or a demonstration sample that accidentally ended up on the beach. Since the start of Russia’s large-scale military invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, suspicious explosive devices and fragments of unknown military equipment have been repeatedly found in waters near the Turkish coast. Turkish authorities and security services have increased controls and conduct systematic monitoring of the situation to prevent potential provocations or terrorist acts in a timely manner. It is worth noting that such discoveries cause considerable concern among local residents, tourists, and diplomatic circles. At the same time, experts warn against hasty conclusions and urge waiting for the conclusion of examinations to clarify the full context of this find. Given Turkey’s long-standing stance of maintaining a balance in its foreign policy and avoiding escalation of the conflict, this situation further draws attention to the proliferation of military activities in the region. If the examination confirms that the found drone is indeed a Ukrainian combat kamikaze drone, it could have additional implications for the regional aerial and military situation, and might intensify discussions on maritime and coastal security in the Mediterranean and Black Seas. Therefore, this incident quickly became a topic of discussion among diplomatic and military circles, as it demonstrates how crucial control over military activity in maritime routes and coastal areas is during a complex period of global conflicts.
