In Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukrainian security services and police protected the city from a potential terrorist attack thanks to targeted work and the heroism of a young resident
A 15-year-old schoolgirl managed to "make a splash" in the information special operations sphere and timely reported a task received from Russian special services, which allowed law enforcement to thwart the malicious plan. According to official information released by the Security Service of Ukraine and confirmed by the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Prosecutor's Office, the situation was extremely serious — it was an attempt of a terrorist act planned by Russian intelligence agencies. As the SBU press service reports, thanks to the actions of the young girl, it was possible to prevent an explosion in the city's central park, which could have claimed many lives and caused widespread chaos. Another interesting detail is that the story began when Russian recruiters offered the Ivano-Frankivsk schoolgirl a reward to produce an explosive device via social media. Operatives established that the suspects overseeing the criminal plans operated covertly, renting accommodation to avoid raising suspicion among the girl’s relatives. Subsequently, following clear instructions, she was supposed to hide the explosives in a thermos and bring it to a crowded area — specifically, to the city park. During the transportation of the explosive device, a representative of the Russian special service attempted to remotely activate the bomb to disrupt the operation — this was confirmed by the investigation. However, technical modifications made beforehand to the device rendered its detonation impossible. At the same time, a Russian fraudster threatened the girl and demanded that she fix the malfunction and follow further instructions, warning that otherwise he would "turn her in" to Ukrainian security authorities. But fortunately, all these threats and blackmail attempts proved futile — no one was harmed. Law enforcement officers and investigators managed to document the entire process of preparing the terrorist act: from recruitment and planning to the attempt to carry it out. Currently, investigations are ongoing within a criminal proceeding under Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (war crimes). In addition, investigators are trying to identify all those involved in the criminal organization of Russian security services, which likely orchestrated this tense plan. This incident became yet another vivid illustration that Ukrainian law enforcement and security agencies are capable of acting quickly and effectively in the fight against Russian aggression, employing not only weapons and technical means but also enlisting the help of smart and brave citizens. The threat of explosions in public places and the risk of loss of lives were minimized precisely due to the timely reaction of the young Ivano-Frankivsk schoolgirl, who did not hesitate to seek help and was able to independently oppose the enemies with their ruthless plans. Currently, Ukrainian law enforcement is intensively working on the details of the operation and identifying all those involved in this malicious conspiracy. One important takeaway from this story is that even in the most challenging conditions, fighting and resisting the aggressor is possible and necessary — especially when human lives and the safety of an entire city and country are at stake.
