Vladimir Putin has made the decision to significantly increase the potential of the Russian Federation’s land forces, announcing a major leap in modernization and the size of the combat personnel
According to information disseminated by the official Kremlin resource "Smotr" referencing his speech at a meeting on the new armament program, the President of Russia has instructed the military command to "significantly" strengthen the capabilities of the ground forces. This decision is part of a broader strategic course aimed at enhancing the combat readiness and technological level of the Russian army under current geopolitical conditions. During the event, Putin emphasized that "land forces play the leading role in conducting modern military operations of any scale and intensity." He stated that the goal is to "rapidly" increase their combat capabilities, establish a solid foundation for future development, and accelerate the development of new weapon systems with advanced tactical and technical characteristics. At the same time, the Kremlin leader ordered an increase in the development of the naval fleet—another strategic component of the country's defense system. This indicates a comprehensive approach to strengthening all military branches of Russia without exception, aimed, on the one hand, at increasing their combat effectiveness, and on the other, at ensuring the ability to deter any external challenges and threats. Earlier, Putin made a bold statement about Russia's nuclear arsenal's dominant position in the global context, claiming that over 95% of Russia's nuclear triad consists of modern weapon systems, and that this figure is the highest in the world. According to him, this aspect is a key guaranteed factor of the country's sovereignty and security. The Russian president also tasked with giving special attention to the development of nuclear forces within the framework of the new state armament program, designed for the period up to 2027-2036. In formulating these strategic objectives, the emphasis is placed on maintaining and enhancing the status of nuclear weapons as the primary means of deterrence, which Russia is prepared to use to defend its national interests and sovereignty in any external scenarios.
