The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed the task of a powerful strike on one of Russia’s largest military-industrial facilities — the gunpowder factory in Tambov, Russia
Information about this operation appeared overnight on June 11, when Ukrainian units, operating in coordination with drone systems and other defense components, conducted a targeted attack on strategic objectives in Russian territory aimed at reducing the war resources of the aggressor country. According to the General Staff, these measures were part of a strategy to diminish Russia’s ability to supply its military machine, particularly in the production of explosives and ammunition. As a result of the strike, the targets were hit with particular force, including a large fire at the Tambov gunpowder factory — one of the main enterprises of the Russian military-industrial complex, which plays a key role in manufacturing ammunition for the Russian armed forces. This factory produces a wide range of products: powders for small arms, artillery systems, rockets, and missile systems, as well as koloxidin — a chemical substance used in the creation of many explosive compounds and ammunition. It is through this important infrastructure that Russia receives components to support its military machine, which sustained significant damage as a result of the Ukrainian special operation. In addition to the strike on the Tambov gunpowder factory, Ukrainian forces confirmed a series of explosions in areas containing ammunition depots. Notably, explosions were recorded near the depot of the 106th Airborne Division in the Kursk region, as well as at the Buturlinovka airfield in the Voronezh region — another critical strategic target for the Russian military-industrial complex. The results of these strikes are still being finalized, but it is already clear that they have seriously impacted important logistical and manufacturing links of the Russian Federation. This is part of the ongoing efforts of the Armed Forces of Ukraine — aimed at exhausting Russia’s military-economic potential and sending a loud signal to the Kremlin that the aggressor country does not have a safe rear and cannot afford to neglect Ukrainian defense. The General Staff emphasizes: “The defense forces continue to employ all possible measures to undermine the military-economic potential of Russian occupiers and to compel Russia to cease its armed aggression against Ukraine.” This bold pressure continues to reduce Russia’s ability to wage war, forcing the occupiers to divert increasing forces and resources to address the consequences of our successful attacks, which in turn creates additional strain on their military and economic systems.
