Russian occupiers once again conducted a large-scale attack on Ukrainian territories, using missile and drone systems in an effort to damage our defense forces
On the night of June 11, a Kalibr missile was launched from the aggressor country’s territory, along with 85 strike drones of various models, including widely used Shahed-type drones, which are causing increasing concern among Ukrainian military personnel and civilians. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, as of 8:00 a.m., Ukrainian air defense forces effectively neutralized 49 out of 85 enemy UAVs aimed at all regions of the country — the east, south, north, and center. This was the result of coordinated efforts by Ukrainian aviation units, anti-aircraft missile systems, and electronic warfare systems. A total of 40 drones were destroyed using firing means, and 9 unmanned aerial vehicles were suppressed or lost due to electronic countermeasures (ECM). At the same time, the attacking troops managed to carry out 14 targeted strikes, resulting in damage to infrastructural objects in the Kharkiv, Donetsk, and Odessa regions. Debris from fallen aircraft was reported in two locations, raising additional concerns about possible harm to local communities. The Air Force press services note that the night attack was repelled thanks to the effective operation of aviation, anti-aircraft missile complexes, and electronic warfare tools. Amidst the intensified Russian shelling, Ukrainian units mobilized all available resources to prevent widespread damage to targets and to protect civilians. This nocturnal attack once again confirms the trend of increased Russian military activity, escalation, and the adoption of drone strategies to support ground operations. Ukraine continues to improve its air defense capabilities to counter these challenges and maintain control of its airspace. It is clear that the threat posed by unmanned systems remains one of the most pressing issues in the fight for the security and sovereignty of Ukrainian territories.
