Around 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday, residents of the city heard a loud explosion, marking yet another wave of attacks by Russian forces on Ukrainian settlements. According to official sources, including the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the Russians used entire ammunition loads of aviation-type munitions – FAB-500 and FAB-1500 – with the use of UMPK strike systems, which allow for flight planning, adjustment, and target designation. As a result of the massive attack, a significant part of Kupiansk was damaged: over 80 residential buildings sustained serious damage or were completely destroyed. Among the affected were private homes as well as objects of public and infrastructure facilities. Additionally, a kindergarten and several utility structures, including warehouse premises and shops, were set on fire. The emergency station and vehicles of emergency response services were also damaged, requiring additional efforts from local firefighters and medical personnel to eliminate the consequences. The official press service of the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office assures that, fortunately, no civilians were injured in the missile strike. This was made possible thanks to experienced safety measures and the quick response of emergency services in timely evacuation and population protection. Nevertheless, the destruction is evident: broken windows, charred roofs, and damaged building facades serve as reminders of the tragic reality in which Kupiansk residents live. An even more surprising fact is that such a powerful strike was delivered immediately after the night shelling of Kharkiv, when on June 11, Russian troops used 17 Shahed drones. As a result of that attack, three people in Kharkiv Region died. This indicates the increasing aggression of the enemy and their deliberate efforts to destroy infrastructure and create panic among the population. Russian military forces actively employ tactics of massive strikes to sow fear and destroy vital objects in Ukrainian cities. Kupiansk, which has long been a target for shelling, is once again suffering from the destructive actions of the occupiers, confirming the urgent need to strengthen air defense systems and provide assistance to the affected population. Ukrainian military and local authorities are making every effort to stabilize the situation, but the destruction remains a significant challenge for the city’s recovery and for supporting its residents. This night attack once again demonstrates that the fight for Ukraine’s independence and security continues every minute. The residents of Kupiansk, despite pain and losses, remain strong and resilient in resisting the occupiers, and the international community calls for an immediate cessation of hostile actions and for supporting the Ukrainian people in defending their home and peace.
