Unfortunately, a fatal incident occurred in Sumy involving the injury of a young resident during a raid by Russian occupiers, which took place over a week ago
A 17-year-old teenager sustained serious injuries as a result of the city’s shelling on June 3. Unfortunately, while fighting for his life, the young man later died in the hospital, bringing the number of victims in this tragic event to six. This was reported by Oleksandr Horún, the head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, on his official Telegram channel. He emphasized that the fight for the young man's life lasted nearly a week, but medical professionals were unable to save him, and his death has been officially recorded. According to him, "a 17-year-old boy who was injured during the enemy shelling on June 3 has died in the hospital. Medical staff did everything possible to save his life for almost a week, but unfortunately, he did not survive." According to the head of the OVA, this tragic news significantly increases the toll of casualties from the Russian shelling, which has already reached six people since the beginning of the attack. A precision strike delivered by a long-range MLRS hit the central part of the city early in the morning. The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that the shelling was carried out in response to Ukrainian military actions; however, local authorities and residents perceive these actions as deliberate aggression and terrorism. Initially, three people were reported killed, and several dozen were injured, including several children and adults in serious condition. However, later, the number of victims increased to five, as among the injured were additional adults and teenagers who sustained severe injuries and required immediate medical assistance. Russian shelling has become a terrible ordeal for the residents of Sumy and their families, disrupting the peace and security of the city. In the past few weeks alone, the region has experienced a series of attacks causing extensive infrastructure damage and loss of life. Local communities are once again calling for enhanced safety measures and support for those affected by this difficult situation. The local authorities emphasize that the situation remains tense and requires comprehensive support and countermeasures against Russian aggression. They urge society not to remain indifferent and to support all those who have suffered from the shellings, as well as to continue working on strengthening defense and humanitarian efforts.
