The night air strike carried out by Russian occupation forces left its mark on the Kyiv cityscape: a building near the European Union Representation suffered significant damage as a result of a missile attack

The incident occurred on the night of June 10 and once again underscores the ongoing danger faced by Ukraine’s capital since the start of the full-scale war. Sources, including the European Union Ambassador to Ukraine, Kataryna Maternova, reported on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) about the scale of the attacks and their consequences: “Hundreds of 'Shahed' drones and missiles during the night. Another sleepless night in the capital. Fires broke out in several districts of Kyiv. The building near the EU Representation sustained substantial damage.” She also added that despite destruction and casualties, Kyiv residents continue to go to work, demonstrating resilience and determination. “Russia will not break our people,” emphasized the diplomat, highlighting the importance of the country’s high-performance air defense. “Air defense saves lives. We sincerely thank our defenders and rescue workers for their tireless efforts,” she concluded. This shelling was part of a large-scale series of attacks in which Russian forces deployed over 320 air assault devices. Ukrainian air defense managed to shoot down approximately 284 of them. Despite these efforts, the missile attack proved destructive for Kyiv: several residential buildings, including multi-storey apartments, as well as commercial facilities, warehouses, railway infrastructure, and vehicles were damaged. As a result of the strike, at least ten fires broke out, some of which are still being contained by emergency services personnel. Four city residents were injured in the attack, including several seriously wounded. Officials emphasize that the energy and civilian sectors continue working to ensure stability and safety for the population. City authorities and law enforcement stress the need to pay increased attention to security measures and strengthen defense efforts in response to Russian attacks. Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha, responding to the new episode of air aggression, called on international partners to intensify sanctions against Russia. He stressed that it’s not only about words of condolences but also concrete actions to deter and punish the aggressor. “We cannot allow this relentless aggression to go unanswered. The extensive strikes clearly demonstrate the importance of tightening sanctions and providing military support to Ukraine,” he said. This overnight air attack is yet another reminder of the duration and complexity of the fight for Ukrainian skies and the security of its citizens. The capital remains at the forefront of the country’s defense, demonstrating the unwavering resilience of the Ukrainian people and their aspiration for freedom and independence, even in the face of the greatest challenges.
