Russian forces have once again carried out a large-scale attack on the Kupiansk district in the Kharkiv region, resulting in tragic consequences for the civilian population
According to official information released by the Kharkiv police, a 70-year-old man was killed in Kupiansk as a result of a Russian airstrike. Additionally, three more people received injuries of varying severity, including two civilians aged 68 and 38, who were hospitalized with bodily injuries. According to law enforcement officials, on June 10, Russian soldiers dropped an FAB-500 type airborne bomb on Kupiansk. As a result of the strike, more than thirty private residential buildings were damaged, most of which sustained significant damage, and some were nearly destroyed. Local residents, in despair, witnessed the destruction and the loss of property, which clearly became evident aftermath of the devastating attack. In addition to Kupiansk, the consequences of Russian shelling affected neighboring settlements. For example, in the village of Vilkhuvatka, an unprotected pedestrian was hit by an FPV drone and was subsequently taken to a medical facility with bodily injuries. Preliminary medical assessments indicate that the injuries are minor, but any trauma in such situations poses a health risk. Investigative and forensic teams, bomb experts, and criminalists worked at the scene of the tragedy. They carefully documented the impact site, collected evidence, and conducted the necessary investigative actions. Law enforcement authorities assure that a criminal case has been initiated for the incident, which can be classified as a war crime, under Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — violation of the laws and customs of war. Currently, investigators are working to establish all circumstances of the tragedy and identify those responsible for committing the crime, as each such case serves as evidence of the brutality and impunity with which Russian occupiers wage war against peaceful civilians. Local residents and the community are calling for increased combat readiness and heightened attention to safety amid ongoing escalation of violence around. This news further confirms the scale and brutality of the ongoing war in eastern Ukraine and underscores the urgent need for increased international support to accelerate the cessation of aggression and restore peace in the region.
