The incident took place overnight from June 9 to 10 and caused significant resonance amid increasing attacks on Russian targets and logistics centers. Special attention was drawn to the sounds of explosions in the cities of Nizhnekamsk and Yelabuga, located in the Republic of Tatarstan, where, according to sources, there is ongoing collection and production of Shahed-type drones. According to official reports from the Russian Defense Ministry, a total of 102 Ukrainian drones were successfully destroyed overnight. Among them, 46 over the Bryansk region, 20 in Belgorod, 9 in Voronezh, 4 in Kaluga and in the Republic of Tatarstan. Three drones were shot down over the Moscow region, two in Leningrad, Oryol, and Kursk regions each, and one in Smolensk. It is also noteworthy that nine drones were destroyed in the temporarily occupied Crimea. Local residents in Nizhnekamsk and Yelabuga reported loud explosions that could be heard over long distances. On the Telegram channel Astra, a video was published showing the aftermath of the events. Specifically, in Yelabuga, located 10 kilometers from which is the powerful Alabuga special economic zone, there is a manufacturing plant specializing in assembling Shahed-type drones. It is believed that the breakthrough occurred precisely in this zone — based on preliminary reports, involving the destruction of part of storage facilities or technological objects concentrated there. Official sources also report that in response to the situation, restrictions on movement and limits on the acceptance and dispatch of aircraft were introduced at several Russian airports. In particular, restrictions were imposed at Nizhnekamsk airport, Pulkovo in Saint Petersburg, and at all Moscow airports. These measures are primarily due to the likelihood of drone use for attacks or other potential consequences. According to analysts, the locations of Nizhnekamsk and Yelabuga — over 1,500 km from the Ukrainian border — indicate a shift in tactics and the capabilities of Ukrainian forces to strike at significant distances, targeting storage bases and production facilities that were previously mostly situated closer to the Ukrainian border. Such actions undoubtedly carry strategic significance and reflect an evolution in wartime tactics. Meanwhile, experts note that this incident further confirms the high level of attempts by Ukrainian forces to target Russian logistics centers, as well as demonstrating the combatant side's ability to utilize modern technologies to break through the rear and increase pressure on Russian targets. The Russian Defense Ministry has so far refrained from detailed comments about the scale and strategic intent of this operation, but Kremlin officials are already speaking about the need to strengthen security measures and enhance air defenses. In any case, this night marked yet another indication of escalating tensions and the rapid development of the situation, which not only keeps the affected regions on edge but also involves the entire international community, closely watching this dramatic confrontation.
