The night of June 9-10 in Kyiv region witnessed one of the most extensive and destructive fires in recent times, which occurred as a result of a massive attack by Russian forces. This tragedy was triggered by a night missile strike, resulting in a fire at an industrial site in Boryspil district, causing panic and substantial material damage. According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SESU) and the Brovary city mayor’s office, who informed about the incident through official channels, the situation developed very quickly and was extremely dangerous. In an SESU report dated June 10, it was stated that as a result of a combined shelling carried out by Russian forces, a massive fire broke out at an industrial facility within the Boryspil community. The fire covered an area of over 2,500 square meters, indicating the seriousness of the situation and the scale of the blaze. Rescue teams promptly mobilized all available forces and equipment to extinguish the fire. A total of 104 rescuers and 35 units of specialized machinery were involved, battling the flames for almost the entire night until the fire was fully contained. According to SESU officials, the exact name or location of the facility remains classified for security reasons, but it is known that the incident took place in the Boryspil community of Kyiv oblast. “As a result of the enemy strike, a large fire broke out at an industrial site in Boryspil district. Thanks to the prompt actions of rescuers, the fire was extinguished over an area of 2,500 square meters,” the SESU reported. Additionally, the nighttime shelling caused damage to private households in several districts of Kyiv region. In Brovary, Fastiv, and Obukhiv districts, local infrastructure was affected — garages were destroyed, vehicles damaged, private homes destroyed. Official sources clarified that there are no reports of civilian casualties so far, although information about possible injuries is emerging over time as it is verified. Brovary Mayor Ihor Sapoizhko reported that approximately 20 private homes in Brovary and Trebukove had been damaged due to the Russian shelling. A car was also damaged by debris in the city. He characterized the extent of the destruction as quite serious but assured that no one among residents or visitors was injured. According to him, the situation is currently under control, and rescue and recovery operations are ongoing. This night attack once again vividly demonstrates that Kyiv region remains a primary target of Russian aggression and is subject to constant shelling. Local emergency services are responding urgently to requests related to evacuations, infrastructure restoration, and ensuring residents’ safety. Meanwhile, the situation underscores the severity of the destruction and the significant additional efforts and time required for the recovery of affected areas. Ukrainian communities are determined to fight and stand strong in the face of war challenges, but this night’s fire and destruction highlight the urgent need to strengthen defense measures and support those affected. While awaiting further updates, residents of Kyiv region stay resilient and prepared for any developments, since the safety and future of the region depend on every individual’s efforts and the coordinated work of emergency services.
