The General Staff confirmed the destruction of a Russian facility responsible for manufacturing critical components for the “Shahed” unmanned aerial vehicles during the night of June 9
According to official information, Ukrainian forces, in cooperation with drone units and other elements of the defense sector, carried out a precision strike aimed at eliminating an important Russian military target. This facility is JSC "ZNDIR-Progress," located over a thousand kilometers from the Ukrainian border, which remains a strategically significant target for Russia in the context of producing means for the so-called "day-night" kamikaze drones. According to the Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff, the strikes on this site were part of efforts to undermine Russia's military capability to produce and supply aerial attack assets. "The Russian military-industrial complex facility, which produces parts for 'Shahed' drones, was hit by at least two unmanned aerial vehicles, causing a large fire. The results of the operation are being clarified," the statement said. Sources indicate that one of the main targets of the attack was the ZNDIR-Progress plant, which manufactures navigation equipment and components for high-precision munitions. Special emphasis was placed on antennas for the "Komet" system, used in "Shahed" strike drones, as well as in modular planning and correction systems for guided bombs—high-precision munitions designed to destroy important military targets deep behind enemy lines. This enterprise is a key element in the technological chain of weapons production, crucial for air defense and aviation tactics used by the occupiers. The General Staff emphasizes that further strikes on facilities supporting Russian aggression against Ukraine will continue until a complete and unconditional ceasefire and a return to peace are achieved. "We will not overlook any link in the Russian military complex involved in the preparation and supply of aggression means against Ukraine," the statement asserts. This is the first confirmed operation of such scale in recent times, aimed at destroying the production capacities of Russia's defense industry that directly support the combat capabilities of Russian forces. It should be noted that this is not the first instance of Ukrainian forces targeting objects of strategic importance to Russia's military machine. The strike on the facility providing high-tech components for "Shahed" drones marked a significant step in countering Russian occupiers, aiming to weaken their ability to mount prolonged and effective offensives. The length and scale of this campaign reflect the principled stance of the Ukrainian command regarding the destruction of all links that facilitate military aggression. Against the backdrop of ongoing statements about the readiness of Ukrainian defenders to launch new operations in the most remote and challenging regions, this attack has become a logical demonstration of Ukraine's capacity to counter large-scale military challenges by eliminating key Russian military infrastructure. It also sends a strong message that Ukraine's defense collaborates with international partners and employs all available means to protect its sovereignty and citizens. In light of recent events, further strikes on Russian military targets remain a central element of Ukraine's strategy to weaken the enemy's potential. These actions not only disrupt high-tech production sectors critical for military aims but also serve as a powerful signal to Russia and the international community about Ukraine's unwavering course to defend its independence and sovereignty.
