Alexander Usyk has come up with a surprising idea: to invite Donald Trump to Ukraine so that he personally experiences the burden and realities of active combat on his own skin

The world heavyweight boxing champion made an appeal to the former US president, urging him to help the Ukrainian people, who are currently facing daily the devastating consequences of Russian bombings. In particular, Usyk personally called on Trump to “open his eyes” and feel what it costs for Ukrainians to fight for their lives and independence. In his interview with CNN Sports, the Ukrainian athlete noted that it is precisely due to political inaction and indecisiveness, especially on the part of the former American leader, that the situation in the country remains tense. “Donald Trump, please,” Usyk appealed, “help my people. My call is — open your eyes and do everything possible to end this war.” The legendary boxer believes that Trump should keep the promises he made during his pre-election campaign, when he assured that he could quickly put an end to the conflict. “He said he could stop the war within a day or a month. And now? For some reason, he’s silent and not keeping his word. Why promise anything at all?” Usyk questions. But the most interesting was the proposal he personally voiced: the boxer calls on Trump to “come to Ukraine and stay at his house.” According to Usyk, he is ready to provide the ex-president with safe shelter in his home, as well as guarantee full protection. “I assure you, nothing will threaten him. He will stay for a week in my house. He will see everything firsthand — how rockets fly overhead, how ordinary Ukrainians live, how destroyed houses and villages look. Let him see all this with his own eyes,” Usyk said. If Trump were to arrive secretly, avoiding publicity, the Ukrainian athlete believes it would have a significant political effect. “If he comes without security and lives in our neighborhood, for example in Obolon or Troieshchyna, where residential buildings are being destroyed — he will understand a simple truth: how Ukrainians live and what price they pay for their freedom,” he added. CNN notes that Usyk’s residence is located in the suburbs of Kyiv — in the village of Vorzel, in the Bucha district, which has become one of the most heavily damaged areas after Russian shelling. This idea has sparked considerable interest and surprise among the public. It emphasizes not only the deep concern of the Ukrainian champion for the fate of his country and its residents but also his desire to draw the international community’s attention to the destructive effects of the war and the need for more active involvement of world leaders in seeking a peaceful resolution. After all, such a symbolic visit, even if it involves shadowy living in an ordinary Ukrainian home, could serve as a powerful message to the global community that it is ordinary people and their will that fight for justice and independence.
