In an important address to the citizens, President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized the need to heed air raid signals, motivating Ukrainians to be especially attentive and cautious in the coming days. In his speech, he highlighted that the situation at the frontline remains very tense and complex, but together we can withstand it. The president called on every Ukrainian not to get discouraged and to stay calm, as the safety of the country is in each of our hands. The address came ahead of a report from Ukrainian security agencies and the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, received from Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrsky, who provided a detailed assessment of the situation along several key frontline directions. According to Zelensky, tension persists in various regions of the country: in the Pokrovsk and Lyman directions, in some areas of Donetsk region, as well as in border regions with Ukraine in Sumy and Kharkiv regions. Zelensky stressed that the current situation is quite challenging and requires increased caution from both civilians and military personnel. „In some directions, the situation is very difficult, but everything depends on our ability to hold the defense, on the resilience and combat readiness of our units. The enemy’s intentions remain unchanged — Russia continues an active offensive, trying to increase pressure and break through Ukrainian defenses. At the same time, success entirely depends on our defense forces and the solidarity of the Ukrainian people. It depends on each of us how quickly and effectively we can oppose aggression and ensure the protection of our state,“ Zelensky said. As a reminder, on June 8, Western news agencies, including Reuters, reported on possible new steps by Russia in response to the Ukrainian “Pavutina” operation, aimed at destroying the strategic aviation of the aggressor state. According to sources in the United States, Moscow is still preparing for a retaliatory strike, which, according to one version, could happen in the coming days. American analysts suggest that this might be a large-scale combined air attack using various means and weapons. Earlier reports indicated that Russian forces have likely already begun responding to Ukrainian actions, with preliminary strikes carried out this week. However, escalation of the conflict is expected to continue — the aggressor country may attempt to strike something symbolically significant for Ukrainian authorities and the people. Diplomatic sources in the West suggest the targets of potential attacks could include government institutions, strategic facilities, and infrastructure. Overall, the situation in the region remains unstable, and Ukrainian military and security services are actively working to prevent new strikes and defend national interests. Authorities urge citizens to stay alert, follow safety rules, not ignore alarm sirens, and remain calm during this difficult time. As Zelensky concludes his address: „Take care of yourselves, take care of Ukraine. Believe in our strength, and together we will endure. Everything depends on our unity and confidence in victory.“
