According to the Ukrainian politician, this fake letter, signed by Tochytskyi, is actively spreading on social media, particularly among the Polish audience, and aims to destabilize the process of historical reconciliation and create artificial conflict situations between Ukraine and Poland. In his comment on his Facebook page, Tochytskyi explained the situation in detail: “Information about the alleged decision of the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine to suspend search and exhumation works conducted in the village of Sadove (former Puzhnyky), Ternopil region, is spreading through social networks and among the Polish community. I would like to note that this document is a fake and has been created with the aim of undermining interstate dialogue aimed at historical reconciliation between Ukrainians and Poles.” Mykola Tochytskyi also emphasized that the field phase of search and exhumation works in Puzhnyky was successfully completed on May 10, 2025. He highlighted that the Polish side described this process as a large-scale historical and diplomatic breakthrough, which contributed to building trust and uncovering common historical truths. In his statement, the minister reaffirmed Ukraine’s principled commitment to democratic values and Christian ethics. “We will continue to honor the memory of Ukrainians and Poles who became victims of tragic events in the past with dignity. I hope that the Ministry of Culture of Poland, as well as my colleague, Minister Hanna Vrublevska, will take the same responsible position,” he stressed. Tochytskyi called on the public and media to be cautious and not fall for informational provocations that could harm interstate dialogue and disrupt the reconciliation process, which has already made a significant step forward. In this context, it is important to emphasize that any decisions regarding search activities should be made within the framework of official agreements and documented arrangements between the parties. Therefore, citizens of Ukraine and Poland should be conscious and precise in their assessments of the situation, and rely only on official sources of information to prevent the spread of disinformation and to preserve the established trust between the two countries in the matter of honoring the victims’ memory and uncovering historical truth.
