In Chernivtsi, former military medic Roman Zamriy found himself at the center of a scandal after he publicly stated on social media that he was detained at a military recruitment and social support center (TCC) for three days, despite having a valid deferment from conscription

Zamriy claimed that he was not given any legal grounds for his detention without proper procedures and denied having committed any violations or harboring any unlawful intent. The Chernivtsi Regional TCC and Social Support promptly responded to this information, providing their side of the story. According to them, on the afternoon of June 4, the citizen was stopped at a checkpoint in Chernivtsi for document verification and clarification of military registration details. Afterwards, he was summoned to the appropriate department to clarify the circumstances. It is stated that instead of undergoing a lawful official check, Zamriy was held in the security room of Department 1 of the Dnistrovske Regional TCC and Social Support, awaiting deployment to a military unit. The reaction from military officials was unambiguous: the statement emphasized that Roman Zamriy did not have a valid deferment from conscription and was recognized by a military medical commission as fit for service. They also noted that at the time of his detention, he was not confined in a basement but was in the security unit room, preparing for deployment. Regarding the legal grounds for detention, the TCC stated that their representatives acted within current legislation, and no unlawful actions against the citizen were recorded. After completing all necessary procedures, on June 5, Zamriy was enlisted in the designated military unit, where he is serving according to his specialty. The military emphasized that he was released from the TCC and social support center on the same day. Concerning the complaints Zamriy expressed on social media, the military promised to conduct a thorough investigation of the facts. They stated that the command would take all necessary measures and make appropriate decisions regarding the officials involved, which might require further investigation to clarify the situation. Thus, the agency assured that in their jurisdiction, they will continue to ensure strict adherence to the rights of servicemen and the establishment of justice in each individual case.
